Dr. Andrew Savitz

Optometrist

Dr. Savitz has served as a primary care optometrist for patients of all ages, with over a decade of experience at private practices. In 2014, he founded his first practice and subsequently went on to own and operate the Eye Care Center of North Jersey. Dr. Savitz has extensive experience managing glaucoma, macular degeneration, and various other ocular diseases. He is a New Jersey native and is passionate about delivering the highest quality of care to his patients. In his spare time, Dr. Savitz enjoys exercising and spending time with his wife and children.

Dr. Savitz received his Bachelors in General Sciences from Penn State University in State College, PA and went on to earn his Doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where he graduated with clinical honors in primary care, specialty contact lenses, and ocular disease management.

Fun Fact: Being from his hometown of Freehold, NJ, Dr. Savitz is a huge Bruce Springsteen fan and has attended over 20 of his concerts! He’s also a big NY Rangers enthusiast!

 

Dr. Marla Mackey

Optometrist

Dr. Marla Mackey, OD, is a seasoned optometrist renowned for her expertise and compassion in providing comprehensive eye care. Her journey in the field of optometry began with her undergraduate studies at Rider University, where she laid the foundation for her future career in eye health.

After completing her undergraduate education, Dr. Mackey pursued her Doctor of Optometry degree from the prestigious Illinois College of Optometry. Graduating with distinction in 1996, she embarked on a path dedicated to enhancing the vision and well-being of her patients.

Driven by a commitment to excellence, Dr. Mackey further honed her skills through a rigorous residency program at the West Side VA Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. During this pivotal period, she gained invaluable experience and specialized training in the diagnosis and management of anterior segment diseases, a field that would become her professional passion.

Dr. Mackey's expertise extends to the fitting of specialty contact lenses, particularly for patients with corneal abnormalities such as keratoconus. Her dedication to restoring vision and improving the quality of life for individuals facing such challenges is evident in her meticulous approach and personalized care.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Mackey finds joy in spending time with her family and friends. An avid hockey fan, she enthusiastically supports her favorite team, (go Devils) finding excitement and camaraderie in the fast-paced world of the sport.

With her unwavering commitment to patient care, coupled with her genuine warmth and dedication, Dr. Marla Mackey has earned the trust and admiration of her patients and peers alike. She continues to uphold the highest standards of excellence in optometry, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those she serves.

Fun Fact: Dr. Mackey was a cheerleader in college, PTA President at Brunner Elementary school, and an avid Devils fan…(yes, we always enjoy some friendly office rivalry.)

Dr. Joni Feldbaum-Smith

Optometrist

Dr. Joni Feldbaum-Smith’s journey into the world of optometry has been shaped by both her passion for science and her genuine desire to make a difference in people's lives. 

She graduated with honors from Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, sparking an interest in how vision shapes the human experience. She then earned a Doctorate of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, gaining extensive clinical experience.

Compassion for underserved communities led Dr. Feldbaum-Smith to volunteer with the Student Optometric Service to Humanity, providing eye care to rural communities in El Salvador. This experience had a profound professional and personal impact.

Dr. Feldbaum-Smith specializes in diagnosing, treating, and managing various eye conditions, fitting contact lenses, and myopia management. She believes in creating a warm, welcoming environment for her patients, bringing both her expertise and heart to every interaction.

She stays current with the latest developments in the field through active memberships in the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians (NJSOP). Outside of work, time is often spent at the beach with family or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.

Fun fact: Dr. Feldbaum-Smith performed with her high school marching band in Disneyland’s Main Street Electrical Parade and the Subway Series pre-show at Yankee Stadium.
